A home is a place of safety and grounding. Even when the outside world feels unstable and the future uncertain, closing the door creates a boundary that allows us to rest, recharge, and continue our path. The concept of House 22 explores the balance between shelter and openness — a dwelling that functions both as a protective structure and as a light, fluid living environment.
The protective color scheme, material palette, and minimal geometric volume draw inspiration from the aesthetics of armored vehicles. In its transformed state, the house forms a closed perimeter, offering a heightened sense of shelter and privacy. Retractable facade panels conceal the panoramic glazing, while a mechanical roof system can enclose the inner courtyard, reinforcing the idea of adaptable protection.
Natural light enters the house primarily from its central core, enabling a reduction of external glazing and reinforcing a sense of enclosure. The living spaces are organized along the perimeter, framing an inner courtyard dedicated to a rock garden — a space of stillness and reflection. These natural compositions are visible from key interior areas, including the bedroom, living room, and corridors, allowing a continuous presence of calm throughout the home.
