A Contemporary Landmark in a Historic Setting

Developed as a concept proposal for integration within the historic center of Ufa, the project carefully responds to the existing urban fabric. The hotel maintains the established five-storey scale and respects the city’s historic skyline, while optimizing the potential of the site. Through detailed urban analysis, the project defines a precise building footprint that balances contextual sensitivity with the spatial and economic requirements of the development.

The facade concept responds to local requirements for natural materials and a restrained architectural palette. Special emphasis was placed on the ground floor — the level most closely experienced by pedestrians and hotel guests. Referencing the rusticated bases of historic merchant architecture, the design introduces brick surfaces and arched forms that give the lower volume a sense of depth and solidity. In contrast, the upper floors are treated with lighter proportions and a more restrained window rhythm, creating a balanced dialogue between monumentality and visual lightness.
