The Okhta River bank in eastern Murino is a location prone to frequent flooding during spring high water periods. The area is characterized by low plateaus near the water, surrounded by a sharp rise in topography. For a long time, the site remained undeveloped, overgrown, and disconnected from the surrounding urban fabric, despite its significant recreational potential. Access from the steep banks was difficult, causing this space to be excluded from the rapidly developing city environment.
The main objectives of the project are to provide residents with access to the water and to ensure a convenient pedestrian connection along the river between residential districts and social infrastructure located in the older part of the city. To achieve this, a new artificial hill is formed starting from a pedestrian bridge located 8 meters above the river level. A long, gently sloping ramp is integrated into the hill, leading down to a viewing platform and further into a newly created beach area.
The entire structure is elevated on piles, averaging 40 centimeters above ground level. The only exception is the viewing platform, which acts as a transitional element between the artificial hill and the beach. From here, visitors can observe the slow flow of the river and the ducks that have become regular inhabitants of its banks.
