Implementation of the master plan
This project represents the second stage in the implementation of the master plan for the development of the central areas of Siversky urban settlement. The use of unified modules, standardized paving types, and a continued design language in small architectural forms ensures spatial continuity and visually reinforces the central identity of the area. Within this transit space, the design deliberately moves away from the traditional Devon brick color palette in favor of more neutral grey tones combined with natural materials, while preserving the established forms of street furniture such as bins and lighting elements. Building on the experience of previously implemented projects, a new composition of four paving types is introduced, visually structuring the pedestrian axis and clearly distinguishing areas of movement and rest.
The new spatial layout made it possible to expand the green areas, maintain a convenient pedestrian transit route, and introduce distinct zones for quiet recreation. Five separate “islands” with comfortable seating, combined with multi-layered planting of perennials, shrubs, and coniferous species, create diversity within the linear structure of the space.
As part of the project, a pilot bicycle lane was introduced, marking the beginning of a broader strategy for developing cycling infrastructure within the settlement. The Velol-1 long-distance cycling route—connecting Moscow and Saint Petersburg—is planned to pass through Siversky urban settlement, making this site part of a larger transit network.
In response, a dedicated cyclist stop was introduced, including bicycle parking and a large welcoming bench designed for both sitting and resting fully reclined. This stopping point encourages cyclists not to pass through without pause, increasing visitor flow to local businesses located along the street.
The renewed Vokzalnaya Street reflects a new level of urban quality for the settlement and sets a benchmark for the future development of public spaces.
